News 2010
24 May 2010: Call To Arms (3) Managers, any money you collect should be placed in a clearly-marked separate envelope and placed in the Match Fees box. We will arrange for donations to be sent to the Cancer Council.
19 May 2010: Memo 10-27 – Allocation of Positions on Competition Ladders For Junior Competitions
14 May 2010: HOLIDAY CLINIC CAPALABA BULLDOGS JUNE JULY HOLIDAY
12 May 2010: Slacks Creek U9 Carnival. 1. Under 9’s Registration Form 6th June 2010
9 May 2010: Canteen Roster – at 9 May 2010 As in past years, teams will be rostered on to help in the canteen. This year we’re doing it a bit differently – younger teams have been allocated for Saturday mornings, and we’re asking older teams to help out with all the other times (Friday nights, Saturday afternoons, Saturday evenings, Sunday mornings). To find out what games are on, please refer to the “Home Games” list – this will soon be available in the clubhouse noticeboard and on the web-site. Teams have been rostered on several times through the season, with larger teams rostered on more.
For most sessions, there are two teams allocated. Managers, you will need to organise with the other team how you’re going to do it (I’ll send out an email with contact details). At all times there should be at least 2 volunteers in the canteen, and 3 might be needed during busy times. Setting up and cooking the BBQ is one of the jobs that needs to be done.
Coaches or Managers should not need to do canteen duty – they are already doing enough for your team. This is an opportunity for everyone else to help out, and earn back your $50 Volunteer Rebate (5 hours = $50). Please see your Team Manager if you are able to help on your rostered day. Managers, please make sure that you organise your team for your rostered days, but let a committee member know if you’re having any problems.
Thank you for your help. Without volunteers doing jobs like these, community clubs like Mooroondu would not exist.
5 May 2010: Under 14 & Under 15 Boys: George Cousins Cup Flyer
4 May 2010: Junor and Senior teams – wearing of skins. This issue may have come up for some of you in your recent games. Please see Wearing of Skins which is a “news” item on the front page of the Football Brisbane web-site. This is a rule set by FIFA. Referees have been told to enforce it – and they will – otherwise they’re not doing their job properly and they will be the ones who get in trouble. Please make sure you review the Rules of Competition (www.footballbrisbane.com.au) before your first fixtures – just to make sure you’ve got everything under control.
2 May 2010: Please be aware that FB have now uploaded all U9 & U10 fixtures onto their web-site. Please go to www.footballbrisbane.com.au and select “Competitions”; “Matches”; “Senior / Junior Fixtures & Results”. You will then need to select your “Hub” from the drop-down list and click “Go”. Please use this to confirm all future fixtures, rather than any previous files, as this will be updated with any fixture changes that occur. Please encourage all members of your team to use this up-to-date facility.
30 April 2010: Junior (U11-U16) teams: Memo 10-24 – Reminder to Clubs
29 April 2010: Memo 10-22 – SSF Consistency
28 April 2010: At Mooroondu we run a programme for 3 to 5 year olds developed and sanctioned by Football Brisbane as the Squirts programme. At Mooroondu we affectionately refer to it’s participants as Joeys.
Due to its enormous popularity there are some openings for volunteer Junior Coaches to help coach their own “team” on a Saturday morning from 9.00am till 10am for 10 weeks commencing May 15. You will need to be at the fields at least 15 minutes before the session starts.
If you are interested can you please contact Greg Henderson via email at di.hendo@bigpond.com by the 5th of May. As a coach you will NOT be expected to develop the training programme as that will be already done for you. You task will be to help the Joey’s and encourage them in their efforts as they perform a series of drills. It is a lot of fun!!!!! The only thing that I ask is that you must be available for the full ten weeks as the Joey’s will see you as their coach and will be disappointed if you are not there.
For those of you who are doing your Work Education Certificate or the Duke of Edinburgh Award the programme will contribute towards your volunteer hours. For those of you who one day aspire to be a soccer coach this gives you the opportunity to see what it is like to be on the other side of the fence.
This opportunity will be best suited to those of you who are 13 years of age and above however if you are passionate about wanting to participate please do not hesitate to contact me.
